Lower your internet bill
Right-size your speed, stop renting equipment, and ask about current offers.
Internet bills creep up when promotional prices end. Checking your speed tier, equipment fees and what new customers pay gives you what you need to ask for a better deal.
Right-size your speed
- Run a speed test at a busy time of day
- Count how many people stream, game or video call at once
- Many households do fine on a mid-tier plan; very high tiers matter mostly for big households and large uploads
Equipment fees
Many providers charge a monthly fee to rent a modem or router. Check whether you can use your own compatible equipment; buying your own can pay for itself over time. Keep the provider's equipment and return it with a receipt if you switch.
Then ask
- Look up what your provider charges new customers and what competitors offer at your address
- Call and ask what promotions are available for existing customers
- Use our internet script on the call scripts page
